Nann Bread is so easy to make that you’ll be wondering why you bother buying it from elsewhere. It also tastes amazing when you make it by yourself.

The following recipe is for a plain nann, although you can add toppings of your choice such as garlic and fresh coriander or you can just serve with mango chutney.

Nann Bread Recipe

For the Dough

  • 250g/9oz plain flour
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 130ml milk
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Method

For the dough mix together the dry ingredients and make a well in the middle. Next mix the oil and milk together and slowly pour into the well. Work the dough together until a soft dough is formed, if it’s a little sticky then add some more flour. Once you have a smooth dough, knead well for around 8 minutes.

Alternatively, if you have a food processor with a bread hook just add all of the ingredients and combine.

Next, pre-heat the grill to a medium heat and place a heavy baking tray inside.

Finally, once you have your dough form it into five balls and roll out flat in a tear shape. You should roll these out quite thin. At this point you can place your chosen topping on top or leave them plain.
Next,  place the naans onto the hot baking tray and grill each side for 1-2 minutes. Easy.
