Pizza has got to be our favourite food and there’s nothing better than making your own.
Making pizza is really simple and what’s great about it is that you can add any topping you like. Here’s our recipe which makes five large pizzas.
Pizza Recipe
- 800g Strong white bread flour
- 7g Fast acting yeast
- 500ml Warm water
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Pinch of salt
Method
If you have a food processor with a dough hook then simply mix the dough together for a few minutes and leave to rise for about an hour.
Otherwise put the flour in a bowl and make a well in the middle. Next add in the yeast, water, salt and water and slowly bring together. Once you have a dough, transfer it to a floured surface, knead for 8-10 minutes and leave aside to rise for around an hour.
Once the dough has risen sufficiantly, knock back by kneading.
Pizza (this example is vegetable but you can use any topping)
Base Topping
- 3 Tubes tomato puree
- Parmigiano Reggiano
- 125g Mozzarella (we used 3 packs for 5 large pizzas)
Our Example Topping
- 1 Courgette
- 3 Mixed peppers
- 1 Red Onion
- 1 Clove garlic
Prepare the veg by cooking in a hot griddle pan until soft and charred.
To make the pizza, preheat the oven to its highest setting.
Next, divide the dough into five equal dough balls and flatten each to make a round disc and once you have completed this step, flour your surface and roll out the pizza dough to the desired size. Finally, use the tomato puree and spread evenly on the surface of each pizza. Add your desired topping and rip pieces from the mozzarella and spread across each pizza until well covered. To finish, cover with grated parmesan and season with black pepper, mixed herbs and extra virgin olive oil.
Bake in the oven on a pizza stone until ready, which usually takes around 8-10 mins. If you have no pizza stone then use a round pizza baking tray.
We have posted pictures of our other pizzas before and after being in the oven below.
